Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

No one knows exactly how he managed to cheat death: did he rely on his own Jedi abilities? On the inherent physical prowess of his Wookiee heritage? Or did his mentor sacrifice their own life to protect him? Regardless of the circumstances, Gungi had already demonstrated considerable proficiency with the Force while fighting alongside Clone Force 99 on the planet Kashyyyk. His ultimate fate remains unknown, yet for Kashyyyk a world brutally ravaged by the Empire a peaceful life was simply not in the cards.

39. Barriss Offee: The Model Apprentice Who Betrayed the Jedi Order

Barriss Offee began her journey as the apprentice of Luminara Unduli and was officially elevated to the rank of Jedi Knight during the Clone Wars. Possessing a keen sensitivity to the Force, she sensed the encroaching darkness closing in around them; however, she failed to grasp that the true mission of a Jedi is to stand tall and actively confront that very darkness.

Ultimately, Barriss chose to turn against the Jedi Council. She crossed lightsabers with Ahsoka Tano on multiple occasions, demonstrating considerable skill and prowess; yet, she never fully unlocked her own potential in the Force. She briefly served as an Imperial Inquisitor before forsaking that path to become a Jedi Healer.

38. Jocasta Nu: Chief Librarian of the Jedi Archives

In the prequel trilogy, Jocasta Nu—portrayed by the late actress Alethea McGrath—served as the Chief Librarian of the Jedi Archives. Her exceptional qualities lay primarily in her vast erudition rather than her combat prowess on the battlefield.

She miraculously survived the massacre at the Jedi Temple during Anakin Skywalker's bloody purge. She had painstakingly curated a repository of Jedi knowledge—a legacy that would ultimately aid Luke Skywalker in rebuilding the Jedi Order.

Palpatine had long viewed the knowledge possessed by Jocasta with apprehension. Upon her return to Coruscant, she was captured by the Empire; determined to prevent the Sith from seizing the profound knowledge she held regarding both the light and dark sides of the Force, she deliberately provoked Darth Vader, ultimately meeting her end at his hands.

37. Eno Cordova: A Scholar-Jedi, Not a Battlefield Warrior

Eno Cordova made his debut in the video game Jedi: Fallen Order, appearing in the form of a holographic recording. This particular Jedi Knight was unique in that he was, first and foremost, a scholar. Seemingly foreseeing the impending rise of the dark side, he labored tirelessly to conceal all records pertaining to Force-sensitive younglings, thereby preserving a beacon of hope for the future of the Jedi.

Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

Eno Cordova survived the execution of Order 66, though he did not live to see the end of the Dark Times. He was renowned for his exceptional insight and wisdom, rather than for brute force in combat.

36. Yord Fandar: A Disciplined and Rule-Bound Jedi Knight

Yord Fandar was an upright, strictly disciplined Jedi Knight who was active during the High Republic era. In the storyline of Star Wars: The Acolyte, he demonstrates impressive adaptability and strategic acumen. Facing the formidable adversary known as "The Stranger," he was the only Jedi to truly discover a method to counter him: by utilizing his opponent's own armor to briefly disable his lightsaber. Regrettably, even having achieved this feat, he was still unable to defeat the enemy. Ultimately, he never received the opportunity to fully unleash the entirety of his power.

35. Reath Silas: The Tragic Apprentice with Unfulfilled Ambition

Reath Silas, a member of the Telin species, was the apprentice of Master Sol and a prodigy of exceptional talent during the High Republic era. He demonstrated intense focus during his training; even while accompanying his Master on missions, he would steadfastly continue to hone his lightsaber techniques.

Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

His true prowess was fully displayed during his duel against the Sith Lord known as The Stranger. Employing a dual-lightsaber fighting style, he successfully managed to knock the mask off his opponent. Yet, in the end, he failed to anticipate The Stranger's insidious combat tactics; he fell in battle, and with his passing, his lifelong potential was buried forever.

34. Vernestra Rwoh: The Youngest Jedi Knight of the High Republic

Vernestra Rwoh is a Mirialan who was active during the High Republic era and is regarded as a true Force prodigy. She was officially knighted as a Jedi Knight at the remarkably young age of fifteen.

Vernestra possesses an exceptionally keen sensitivity to the guidance of the Force; heeding its revelations, she modified her lightsaber into a lightwhip. This unique weapon proved invaluable during conflicts against the Nihil pirates and the predatory plant species known as the Drengir.

In the series Star Wars: The Acolyte, an adult Vernestra Rwoh is portrayed by Rebecca Henderson; however, the storyline has not yet revealed the full extent of her true capabilities at this stage of her life.

33. Aayla Secura: The Master of Lightsaber Combat

Aayla Secura first appeared in the Star Wars Expanded Universe (now Legends) before being officially incorporated into George Lucas's Prequel Trilogy.

This Twi'lek Jedi Master possesses close-quarters combat skills that have reached the very pinnacle of mastery. Regrettably, most of her classic exploits during the Clone Wars era were not incorporated into the new official canon; this makes it difficult for us to precisely determine her ranking on this list based solely on the current continuity.

We look forward to seeing future Star Wars works once again feature and explore this character.

32. Stellan Gios: A High Republic Jedi Master of Both Power and Strategy

Stellan Gios possessed not only immense Force sensitivity but also exceptional insight. When the Nihil attacked the Republic Fair on the planet Valo, he stepped forward to protect Chancellor Lina Soh; for this heroic deed, he was hailed as a hero.

Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

Later, when the Nihil destroyed the Starlight Beacon space station and sent its debris hurtling toward habitable worlds, Stellan sacrificed his life to cover the evacuation of others—a tragic and regrettable end.

While scenes of him unleashing his full power were rare, he frequently fought alongside other top-tier masters such as Avar Kriss and Elzar Mann. This fact alone serves as ample proof that he was absolutely worthy of the title of Jedi Master.

31. Depa Billaba: Kanan Jarrus’s Master

Depa Billaba was the apprentice of Mace Windu and one of the very few Jedi to have mastered the Vaapad lightsaber form.

This combat style is highly unique, requiring the practitioner to confront their own emotions directly and channel those feelings to fuel a ferocious offensive. Mace and Depa remain the only two known practitioners of Vaapad who did not succumb to the dark side.

Today, audiences know her primarily as the mentor of Kanan Jarrus. In the opening sequence of Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 1, Depa sacrificed her own life to save her apprentice.

30. Saesee Tiin: Member of the Jedi Council

Some Force-sensitive individuals possess unique, specialized talents; Saesee Tiin, an Iktotchi, is a prime example. He was a master telepath of the highest caliber, though the Star Wars narrative has rarely depicted this ability in actual combat scenarios. Furthermore, he was one of the most exceptional lightsaber duelists of the Prequel Era; perhaps it was precisely through his telepathic abilities that he was able to anticipate his opponents' moves in advance.

Yet, in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, he ultimately fell at the hands of Darth Sidious. The Dark Lord's actions were so unpredictable that even he could not foresee them.

29. Yaddle: The First Jedi to Fall to Dooku's Blade

Yaddle was active during the High Republic Era and was highly respected for her extraordinary wisdom and acute Force sensitivity. Her most pivotal appearance in the official canon occurs in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi: she tracked Dooku all the way to his meeting with Darth Sidious, ultimately meeting her end at the hands of Dooku's lightsaber.

In that duel, Yaddle fought valiantly, though the power she displayed did not quite match that of the characters ranked higher on this list. However, by that time, she had entered her twilight years, and her abilities may well have passed their peak.

28. Kanan Jarrus: The Surviving Apprentice Who Became a Jedi Master

Kanan Jarrus originally named Caleb Dume is a central character in Star Wars Rebels. When Order 66 was executed, he survived only because his Master, Depa Billaba, sacrificed her life to save him.

Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

Kanan’s connection to the Force was exceptionally profound. After Darth Maul robbed him of his sight, he came to rely even more heavily on the Force to perceive the world around him. This deepened bond served to further amplify his abilities. The moment of his sacrifice when he used a Force-generated barrier to shield others from a violent explosion stands as a singular testament to his immense power.

27. Luminara Unduli: Master to Barriss Offee

Luminara Unduli was a Jedi Master during the Clone Wars era, hailing from the Mirialan species. Defeating her in a duel was by no means an easy feat.

In Lucas’s prequel trilogy, the character was portrayed by Mary Oyaya. Originally conceived within the Star Wars Expanded Universe (now known as Legends), this character left a lasting impression on audiences.

26. Ki-Adi-Mundi: A Distinguished Member of the Jedi Council

A Cerean, Ki-Adi-Mundi was an active figure during the prequel era, though he ultimately failed to survive the purge of Order 66.

His mastery of lightsaber combat was exceptional; he was one of the few Jedi warriors to have mastered Makashi, a lightsaber form specifically designed for dueling. This distinction meant he was one of the select few Jedi capable of holding their own against Count Dooku.

When the clone troopers suddenly turned on him, Ki-Adi-Mundi thanks to his astonishing reflexes managed to deflect several blaster bolts; yet, ultimately overwhelmed by sheer numbers, he was tragically cut down.

25. Cere Junda: The Jedi Master Who Stood Her Ground Against Darth Vader

Cere Junda was a Jedi Master of formidable power. After her Padawan fell to the dark side and became an Inquisitor under Darth Vader, Cere in a moment of profound despair voluntarily severed her own connection to the Force.

Upon rediscovering her faith, she became a pivotal figure within the "Hidden Path" network, dedicating herself to rescuing Jedi who were being hunted by the Galactic Empire.

She ultimately met her end in a duel against Darth Vader. The fierce resistance she displayed during that battle and throughout her life secures her a high and well-deserved position on this power ranking.

24. Elzar Mann: The Maverick Jedi of the High Republic

Elzar Mann is a rather controversial Jedi figure from the High Republic era. His connection to the Force is unique; he frequently glimpses visions and future events that remain hidden to others.

Possessing formidable power, he nonetheless often lacks composure and wisdom. The Force warned him that the Nihil would attack the Republic Fair on the planet Valo, yet he arrogantly believed that he alone could prevent the catastrophe.

Elzar's story is set to be a central focus of Phase III of *Star Wars: The High Republic*. We look forward to seeing him regain his inner balance and demonstrate even greater power in the unfolding narrative.

23. Ezra Bridger: The Exceptionally Gifted Jedi Knight

Ezra Bridger is a character from Star Wars: Rebels and a Force-sensitive individual of exceptional ability.

Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

He possesses a unique Force ability that allows him to establish mental connections with various living creatures. In the series finale, facing down Grand Admiral Thrawn's fleet, he summoned a pod of Purrgil space-whales to aid the cause, utilizing this ability to its absolute fullest extent.

22. Ahsoka Tano: Anakin's Apprentice, Who Left the Jedi Order

Ahsoka Tano was Anakin Skywalker's apprentice; having lost faith in the Jedi Council, she ultimately chose to leave the Order.

During the dark years of Imperial rule, she continued to hone her skills and remained steadfast in upholding the Jedi way of life; even though she was no longer affiliated with the Order, her core principles never wavered. She is one of the very few individuals to have survived a direct confrontation with Darth Vader. It was her close friend, Ezra Bridger, who intervened to pull her back from the brink of death.

21. Shaak Ti: The Jedi Master Overseeing Clone Training

In the Prequel Trilogy, Shaak Ti a Togruta portrayed by Orli Shoshan served as a member of the Jedi Council during the Clone Wars era. Shaak Ti was exceptionally adept at utilizing Force Telekinesis in combat; even when embroiled in the most perilous of battles, she could multitask with perfect composure, facing her adversaries with grace.

Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

Regrettably, many of her most thrilling adventures were not incorporated into the current official canon, and the details of her ultimate demise were subject to numerous revisions. Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith originally featured two distinct death sequences for her, both of which were ultimately cut from the final film. However, official reference guides have since confirmed that she met her tragic end during the execution of Order 66, amidst the assault on the Jedi Temple.

20. Avar Kriss: The Jedi Knight Who Favored the Lightsaber-Shield

Avar Kriss was a preeminent Jedi of the High Republic era, possessing a unique and profound understanding of the Force and the Jedi way. Much like the Star Wars equivalent of Captain America, she was equally adept at utilizing a lightsaber-shield for defense as she was at wielding a standard lightsaber to bravely engage and defeat her enemies.

During the outbreak of conflict on the Jedi holy moon of Jedha, she employed the Force to telekinetically spin a lightsaber-shield around a crowd of civilians, deflecting incoming blaster fire while simultaneously engaging enemy troops and battle droids with the lightsaber held in her hand. Her extraordinary mental focus and concentration were key factors that secured her a high ranking on this list of powerful Force-users.

19. Kit Fisto: The Warrior Who Mastered Both Land and Water

Kit Fisto, a Nautolan, possessed a unique Force-sensitivity that allowed him to manipulate water currents. By seamlessly integrating his species' natural amphibious traits with the power of the Force, his combat prowess particularly when fighting underwater far exceeded his capabilities on dry land, and his swimming speed was nothing short of astonishing.

He was not only a formidable hand-to-hand combatant but also a lightsaber duelist of exceptional skill. In Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, he was one of the few Jedi Masters to directly confront Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. However, he was swiftly defeated by the Sith Lord a testament to the sheer, terrifying raw power possessed by Palpatine.

18. Plo Koon: Member of the Jedi Council

In the prequel trilogy, Plo Koon portrayed by Alan Ruscoe was depicted as a Jedi Master of immense power and extraordinary wisdom; yet, even he could not escape the deadly reach of Order 66. Like many of the most elite Jedi, he excels at combining Force telekinesis with lightsaber combat, earning a reputation as a genius in the application of telekinetic powers. Even when gravely wounded, he continues to fight valiantly amidst the fray, proving time and again that he is a formidable warrior.

17. Torbin: A Jedi Knight of Exceptional Combat Prowess

Torbin makes his debut in the series Star Wars: The Acolyte, set during the twilight of the High Republic era. Following a tragic mission on Brendok, he took a vow of penance known as the Barash Vow.

Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

The events of the series unfold ten years after his self-imposed exile began; by this time, he has evolved into one of the most powerful Jedi we have ever witnessed.

Even while immersed in a state of deep meditation, he is capable of erecting a Force barrier that renders him completely impervious to external attacks a feat nothing short of miraculous. However, the lingering guilt within his heart prevents him from ever achieving true emotional stability.

16. Porter Engle: A Jedi Master Dedicated to Lifelong Self-Improvement

War does not make anyone great this is a truth Porter Engle learned through bitter experience. This Iktotchi Jedi Master was a legendary figure within the circles of the High Republic era; he distinguished himself with heroic deeds in his youth, earning the moniker "The Blade of Bardotta."

Later, when his faith in the Force wavered, he journeyed to the Outer Rim territories, serving as a cook in various Jedi Temples across the region. Yet, whenever a crisis arose, he would invariably don his armor and return to the battlefield.

15. Kelleran Beq: The Jedi Knight Who Saved Grogu

Kelleran Beq was one of the Jedi Order's premier lightsaber instructors, dedicated specifically to training Jedi younglings.

As revealed in the third season of The Mandalorian, it was he who saved Grogu during the execution of Order 66. Facing down a massive force of clone troopers, he fought back fiercely, demonstrating a rare dual-lightsaber combat technique. The prowess of this Jedi Knight is, without question, not to be underestimated.

14. Grogu: The Gifted Jedi Youngling

Grogu possesses a variety of unique Force abilities, including the rare power of Force healing a technique that requires the user to expend their own life force.

In the Season 3 finale of The Mandalorian, he used the Force to erect a protective barrier around himself, Din Djarin, and Bo-Katan Kryze, shielding them from the explosion of a crashing starship; this remains his most impressive feat to date.

Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

Strictly speaking, Grogu has currently departed the Jedi Order; however, he retains deep ties to the Order, and a future return remains entirely possible. Coupled with his exceptionally long lifespan, these factors have earned him a place on this list.

13. Indara: The Compassionate Jedi Guardian

Jedi Master Indara was active during the High Republic era and appears in the series Star Wars: The Acolyte. A formidable martial artist, her combat prowess amplified by the intense focus derived from her meditative practice makes her a truly fearsome opponent and, undoubtedly, one of the most powerful Jedi of her time.

Ultimately, however, she fell in battle against Mae Aniseya. Her opponent exploited her greatest vulnerability: as a true Jedi, she held every single life without exception as sacred.

May Annika devised a ploy that trapped Indara in a moral dilemma: save herself, or save the innocent. True to the Jedi Code, Indara ultimately chose the latter.

12. Quinlan Vos: The Elite Warrior Closing in on Dooku

Quinlan Vos is a formidable warrior who should never be underestimated. He possesses a relatively rare Force ability known as "psychometry" the power to glimpse past events simply by touching an object or another person.

His combat prowess is exceptional, yet his inner self frequently teeters on the edge of the dark side; he even developed a mutual romantic attraction with Asajj Ventress. His abilities are such that he is deemed capable of undertaking high-risk missions; the Jedi Council even dispatched him to assassinate Count Dooku a challenge that was, without question, a near-suicidal endeavor.

11. Qui-Gon Jinn: The Jedi Who Mastered the Path to Immortality

During the Prequel Era, Qui-Gon Jinn was a maverick among the Jedi. His wisdom far surpassed that of his peers; he deciphered the deeper meanings behind ancient Jedi prophecies and realized that he was living in the very era foretold for the arrival of the Chosen One.

Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

Humble and ever-eager to learn, he was willing to draw wisdom from other traditions of Force-sensitivity. Moreover, he was the very first Jedi to master the technique of preserving one's consciousness within the Force after death.

Had it not been for Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi Order might well have perished entirely. It was the legacy and teachings he left behind that paved the way for Luke Skywalker's training in the years to come.

10. Avar Kriss: The Moral Compass of the Jedi Order

Avar Kriss stands as one of the greatest Jedi of the High Republic era. She perceives the Force as a symphony, able to sense the presence of other Jedi as if they were distinct melodies within that grand composition.

This unique gift grants her an unparalleled ability: to harmonize the Force energies of her fellow Jedi, weaving their individual strengths into a unified whole to accomplish truly monumental feats.

On one occasion, she marshaled the collective power of Jedi across the entire galaxy to clear away the massive debris left in the wake of a stellar collision.

9. Cal Kestis: The Jedi Survivor

Cal Kestis is the protagonist of the video games Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, ranking among the most powerful Jedi in existence. Lucasfilm has endowed him with a diverse array of unique Force abilities including Psychometry (Force Echo) and the capacity to empathize deeply with living beings.

Throughout his journey, danger has shadowed his every step, forcing him to constantly push past his limits and grow ever stronger.

In the dark times that followed the Jedi Purge, he refused to remain in hiding; instead, he stepped into the light to inspire others to rise up against the Empire. Cal's story is far from over.

8. Sol: A Powerful Jedi in Star Wars: The Acolyte

Jedi Master Sol is a central figure in the series Star Wars: The Acolyte and stands as one of the most formidable warriors of the High Republic era.

He spearheads the investigation into the truth behind the Sith assassin and is the only individual to have survived a direct confrontation with Mae Aniseya. During their duel, he calmly dismantled her attacks, ultimately disarming his opponent.

Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

His true power was best demonstrated in his duels against the mysterious Sith Lord, where he proved himself a worthy match, holding his own in both encounters. Yet, despite his immense power, he remains plagued by emotional instability.

7. Mace Windu: Master of Vaapad and Shatterpoint

Mace Windu is one of the most powerful Jedi Masters of the Prequel Era. He possesses the rare ability known as Shatterpoint the capacity to perceive the critical weaknesses in people and events, allowing him to execute strategies with pinpoint precision.

Furthermore, he is one of only two Jedi to have successfully mastered the lightsaber form Vaapad by channeling their own inner darkness. This aggressive and intense fighting style allows the practitioner to transform their emotions into offensive power. His most illustrious feat remains his direct confrontation with Darth Sidious a duel in which he pushed the Sith Lord to his absolute limits.

6. Rey: Descendant of Palpatine and One Half of a Force Dyad

Rey stands as one of the most powerful characters in the entire Star Wars saga. She and Ben Solo form a mysterious Force Dyad a bond between two individuals possessing a power of immense magnitude. When Palpatine siphoned this power in the past, he not only regained his vitality but saw his combat prowess skyrocket exponentially.

By virtue of this Dyad connection, Rey is able to share Ben Solo's lightsaber expertise; she also mastered the previously exceedingly rare ability of Force Healing, thereby consolidating a host of rare Force abilities within herself. The Star Wars saga continues, and Rey's future path of growth is something for everyone to eagerly anticipate.

5. Ben Solo: The Skywalker Lineage, One Half of the Force Dyad

Ben Solo and Rey constitute a Force Dyad a mystical bond that endows him with the potential to manipulate life, death, and even time itself.

Manipulated by Palpatine, he strayed from the Jedi path and transformed into Kylo Ren. However, in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, he completely broke free from the shackles of the dark side, briefly unleashing the full extent of his training and power during the climactic battle against the Sith.

His ultimate fate is poignant; the immense potential he harbored throughout his life was, in the end, never fully realized.

4. Obi-Wan Kenobi: The Embodiment of the Pure Jedi Ideal

Obi-Wan Kenobi is, without question, one of the most powerful Jedi of all time. He specialized in Form III (Soresu) lightsaber combat a style centered on defense that perfectly aligns with the Jedi philosophy of living.

Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

He is the only individual to have crossed lightsabers with Darth Vader on two separate occasions and emerged alive both times. Although he ultimately fell beneath Vader's blade, his consciousness merged with the Force, attaining a state of being that Vader despite his lifelong quest could never hope to reach.

3. Anakin Skywalker: The Chosen One

Conceived by the Force itself, Anakin was the prophesied Chosen One destined to fulfill the mission of bringing balance to the Force.

During the Clone Wars, he achieved countless heroic feats, wielding a command of the Force powerful enough to shake the very stars. Yet, in the end, he proved unable to resist the seductive allure of the dark side. This is also the reason he failed to reach the very top of the list: he succumbed to the darkness midway through his journey, never completed his training, and consistently lacked the mental discipline required to fully master his own powers. Furthermore, having sustained severe injuries during his duel with Obi-Wan, his potential was further stifled.

2. Yoda: The Most Ancient and Profoundly Wise Jedi Master

Master Yoda served as the supreme leader of the Jedi Order; by the era of the Prequels, he had already presided over the Jedi Council for centuries. He is universally acknowledged as one of the most powerful Jedi in history so much so that even Palpatine, in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, regarded him with a healthy dose of apprehension.

In terms of midi-chlorian count, Yoda may not have surpassed Anakin Skywalker; however, the cumulative wisdom and skill gained from centuries of training endowed him with a depth of power unmatched by any other a foundation that firmly secures his position at number two on this list.

1. Luke Skywalker: The Quintessential Hero's Journey

For years, fans have engaged in ceaseless debate: did Luke Skywalker’s power ultimately surpass that of his father?

George Lucas himself has offered somewhat contradictory statements on the matter, occasionally implying that Luke possessed a natural aptitude equal to Anakin’s. If this is indeed the case and factoring in his longer duration of training then even if his methods were unconventional, his overall power is more than sufficient to claim the top spot.

Ranking of 40 Jedi Knights

The Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, Adam Christopher’s official novel Shadow of the Sith, and Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi all vividly demonstrate the unfathomable depth of Luke’s power. He stands as the greatest hero in the Star Wars saga and, among all Jedi Knights, the single most powerful individual.

Conclusion

Ranking the power levels of Jedi Knights is by no means a simple, one-dimensional task. Whether they are battle-hardened Jedi Masters or fledgling Jedi Apprentices, every single Jedi Knight has, in their own unique way, left an indelible mark upon this vast galaxy. While debates over "who is the strongest" invariably spark lively discussion among fans, the sheer diversity of talent, courage, and wisdom showcased in this list is precisely what lies at the very heart of the Jedi Order's legendary status.
